Harry Seymour, A Martha's Vineyard Artist

I do pastel, scratchboard and egg tempera paintings. I draw upon the beauty of Martha's Vineyard and my African American cultural experiences for inspiration.

Enjoying a Cone (Sold $2000)

This is my first attempt at using black pastel with Ampersand claybord. I am fairly confident that it is a first and thus truly one-of-a-kind.
POEM-NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION
My New Year’s resolutions
Are soon forgotten delusions
About who I could be
Indeed, at times
I might like to be a tree
Within a chorus
Of dropping leaves
In unison and harmony
To a forest’s drumbeat
And season’s cadence
Of songs never complete
Simply rhythms to repeat
As leaves restore each spring
A form of rehearsal
Year after year
Not unlike resolutions
In search
Of the illusive tree of life
Not found in any tree
But in the forest’s melody
In me.
