Childhood memories
Can be indelible
As in 2008
Right in front of school
The Obamas were sighted
Distributing food
In a Thanksgiving event
Causing quite a stir
Children bursting with pride
Smiling faces and wide eyed
Their sign held high
“We love our Prez”
A day they’ll forever prize
As they remember too
Their segregated school
As most were then
And regrettably still
