I am compelled to produce art. I draw inspiration from what makes me care –either because I am emotionally  enthralled or deeply moved. The setting for much of my art is Martha’s Vineyard- a place of immense beauty, and its mixture of place with varied people creates beautiful hues that energize and give vibrancy to my artistic vision. My emotional connection to my subject matter is revealed in depictions of deeply contemplative moods of people, objects and places. My techniques are defined by discovery and innovation as I strive to achieve a synergy among the materials, method and content. I take pride in the uniqueness of my methods where scratchboard art may be combined with pastels on clayboard and/or egg tempera paintings applied with brushwork rarely seen in temperas.
