Driving while Black
Shopping while Black
Realities of being Black
So many profiling traps
Rarely felt in Oak bluffs
Where Black has panache
Of pulsating rhythm
Like gospel and jazz
So many are known
Not by name but kinship
Forged by a history
Only they can claim
As Black venues multiply
With joyful revelry
Like Polar Bears swimming
Swirling in a socialization
Of an Inkwell oasis
Culturally full of anticipation
There’s worshiping too
In a Union Chapel pew
Culminating in renewal
Of body, mind and soul
For Blacks who are many
Not just a few
Who undoubtedly dread
When departure is due
Vacationing while Black.
